ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ — ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸਿਹਤ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਕਦਮ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੈ। ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ₹402 ਕਰੋੜ ਦੀ ਲਾਗਤ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਚਰਨ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਹਸਪਤਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਹਸਪਤਾਲਾਂ ਵਰਗੀਆਂ ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਸਿਹਤ ਸਹੂਲਤਾਂ ਉਪਲਬਧ ਕਰਵਾਉਣਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਲਾਜ ਦੀ ਗੁਣਵੱਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਧਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਮ ਲੋਕਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਮਹਿੰਗੇ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਇਲਾਜ ਦਾ ਬੋਝ ਘਟਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਪਹਿਲੇ ਚਰਨ ਹੇਠ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੇ ਕਈ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ, ਸਬ-ਡਿਵੀਜ਼ਨਲ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਕਮਿਊਨਿਟੀ ਹੈਲਥ ਸੈਂਟਰ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਹਸਪਤਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਡਿਊਲਰ ਓਪਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਥੀਏਟਰ, ਅੱਪਗ੍ਰੇਡ ਕੀਤੇ ਐਮਰਜੈਂਸੀ ਬਲਾਕ, ਅਤੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਇੰਟੈਂਸਿਵ ਕੇਅਰ ਯੂਨਿਟ (ICU) ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਇਹ ਸਹੂਲਤਾਂ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਮਰੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਇਲਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਸਾਬਤ ਹੋਣਗੀਆਂ।
ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ, ਹਸਪਤਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੈਂਟੀਲੇਟਰ, ਕਾਰਡੀਅਕ ਮਾਨੀਟਰ, ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਉਪਕਰਣ ਲਗਾਏ ਜਾਣਗੇ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਜਟਿਲ ਬੀਮਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਹੋਰ ਸੁਗਮ ਬਣੇਗੀ। ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਮੰਨਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸੁਵਿਧਾਵਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਰੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਲਾਭਦਾਇਕ ਸਾਬਤ ਹੋਣਗੀਆਂ ਜੋ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਕਾਰਨਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਹਸਪਤਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਲਾਜ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਵਾ ਸਕਦੇ।
ਯੋਜਨਾ ਦੇ ਤਹਿਤ ਪੇਸ਼ੈਂਟ ਫੈਸਿਲੀਟੇਸ਼ਨ ਸੈਂਟਰ ਵੀ ਬਣਾਏ ਜਾਣਗੇ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਮਰੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਸਪਤਾਲੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆਵਾਂ, ਵਿਭਾਗਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਲਾਜ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ। ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਰੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਹਸਪਤਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਟਕਣ ਦੀ ਸਮੱਸਿਆ ਘਟੇਗੀ।
ਸਿਹਤ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਇਹ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਪੜਾਅ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਰ ਹਸਪਤਾਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਲਕਸ਼ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦਾ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸਿਹਤ ਤੰਤਰ ਭਰੋਸੇਯੋਗ, ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕ-ਕੇਂਦਰਿਤ ਬਣੇ।
Chandigarh — The Punjab government has taken a major step toward strengthening public healthcare by launching the first phase of a ₹402 crore project aimed at upgrading government hospitals to match the standards of private medical facilities. The initiative focuses on improving infrastructure, treatment quality, and patient experience across secondary healthcare institutions in the state.
In the first phase, several district hospitals, sub-divisional hospitals, and community health centres have been selected for comprehensive upgrades. These facilities will be equipped with modular operation theatres, upgraded emergency blocks, and fully functional Intensive Care Units (ICUs). The enhancements are expected to significantly improve the handling of critical and emergency cases within government hospitals.
As part of the project, hospitals will also receive modern medical equipment such as ventilators, cardiac monitors, and advanced diagnostic tools. These upgrades aim to strengthen the capacity of public hospitals to manage complex medical conditions and reduce dependence on private healthcare institutions for critical treatment.
Another key feature of the initiative is the establishment of patient facilitation centres within hospitals. These centres will guide patients and their families through hospital procedures, departments, and services, ensuring smoother coordination and a more patient-friendly environment. The move is expected to improve efficiency and reduce confusion for patients seeking care.
Government officials have emphasized that the project is designed to make quality healthcare accessible and affordable for all citizens. Many patients, particularly from rural and economically weaker sections, are often forced to seek treatment in private hospitals due to limited facilities in government institutions. By upgrading public hospitals, the state aims to reduce out-of-pocket healthcare expenses and ensure equitable access to advanced medical services.
The authorities have clarified that this is only the first phase of a larger plan. Additional phases will cover more hospitals and health centres across Punjab, further strengthening the public healthcare network. The long-term goal is to build a robust, modern, and people-centric healthcare system that citizens can rely on with confidence.
With these upgrades, Punjab’s government hospitals are expected to undergo a significant transformation, offering improved medical care, better infrastructure, and enhanced patient support—bringing them closer to private healthcare standards while remaining affordable for the common man.
