ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਐਤਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਕਰਵਾਈਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਟੇਟ ਟੈਲੈਂਟ ਸਰਚ ਇਗਜ਼ਾਮੀਨੇਸ਼ਨ (PSTSE) ਅਤੇ ਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਮੀਨਜ਼-ਕਮ-ਮੈਰਿਟ ਸਕਾਲਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਸਕੀਮ (NMMS) ਦੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ। ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਦੋਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਲਈ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰੀ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਜਨਕ ਰਹੀ।
ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ, ਦਸਵੀਂ ਜਮਾਤ ਦੇ 83.53 ਫੀਸਦੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ PSTSE ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਏ, ਜਦਕਿ ਅੱਠਵੀਂ ਜਮਾਤ ਦੇ 83.4 ਫੀਸਦੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ PSTSE ਅਤੇ NMMS ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ। NMMS ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆ ਖਾਸ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਅੱਠਵੀਂ ਜਮਾਤ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਦਕਿ PSTSE ਅੱਠਵੀਂ ਅਤੇ ਦਸਵੀਂ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਜਮਾਤਾਂ ਲਈ ਕਰਵਾਈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ ‘ਤੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਦੋਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋ ਭਾਗ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਸਨ — ਮਾਨਸਿਕ ਯੋਗਤਾ ਟੈਸਟ (MAT) ਅਤੇ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਯੋਗਤਾ ਟੈਸਟ (SAT)। ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਪੱਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਣਿਤ, ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਦੇ ਬਹੁ-ਵਿਕਲਪੀ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਸਨ, ਜੋ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੋਚ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ।
ਦਸਵੀਂ ਜਮਾਤ ਲਈ PSTSE ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁੱਲ 5,405 ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਰਜਿਸਟ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਵਾਈ ਸੀ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ 4,515 ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਰਹੇ। ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਸਕੈਂਡਰੀ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰ ਚੁਣੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰਵਾਈਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ।
ਅੱਠਵੀਂ ਜਮਾਤ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆ 15 ਕੇਂਦਰਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਕਰਵਾਈ ਗਈ। ਕੁੱਲ 5,884 ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਰਜ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਸੀ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ 4,907 ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਰਹੇ।
ਸਕੂਲ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ NMMS ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਗਲੇ ਚਾਰ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਲਈ ਸਾਲਾਨਾ ₹12,000 ਦੀ ਸਕਾਲਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਮਿਲੇਗੀ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ, PSTSE ਪਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਅੱਠਵੀਂ ਜਮਾਤ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ₹200 ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਮਹੀਨਾ ਸਕਾਲਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਹੈ।
Large Number of Students Appear for PSTSE and NMMS Talent Exams in Ludhiana
A large number of students participated in the Punjab State Talent Search Examination (PSTSE) and the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMS) examinations conducted across Ludhiana district on Sunday. Education officials said the response from students was encouraging, reflecting strong interest in scholarship-based academic opportunities.
As per official data, 83.53 per cent of Class 10 students appeared for the PSTSE, while 83.4 per cent of Class 8 students took part in the PSTSE and NMMS examinations. The NMMS exam is conducted exclusively for Class 8 students, whereas the PSTSE is held for both Class 8 and Class 10. Schools recommend students for these exams based on their academic performance.
Both examinations consist of two parts — the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). The question papers included multiple-choice questions from Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, designed to evaluate students’ analytical skills as well as subject understanding.
For Class 10, a total of 5,405 students had registered for the PSTSE, out of which 4,515 appeared for the examination. The exams were conducted at several government senior secondary schools and selected private institutions across Ludhiana and nearby areas.
Class 8 examinations were held at 15 centres across the district. Of the 5,884 students registered, 4,907 were present on the day of the examination.
School authorities stated that students who qualify the NMMS examination will be awarded a scholarship of ₹12,000 per year for four years. Meanwhile, Class 8 students who clear the PSTSE will be eligible for a monthly scholarship of ₹200, providing continued academic support and encouragement.
