लुधियाना पुलिस कमिश्नरेट द्वारा पुलिस लाइन, लुधियाना में एक ऐतिहासिक जनसभा का आयोजन किया गया, जिसका उद्देश्य कानून प्रवर्तन एजेंसियों और स्थानीय नागरिकों के बीच बेहतर समन्वय स्थापित करना था। इस उच्च स्तरीय सुरक्षा बैठक में शहर की जमीनी सुरक्षा व्यवस्था से जुड़े 1500 से अधिक प्रतिनिधियों ने सकारात्मक और सहयोगपूर्ण माहौल में भाग लिया।
इस बैठक की अध्यक्षता पुलिस कमिश्नर स्वपन शर्मा आईपीएस ने की। उनके साथ अतिरिक्त पुलिस आयुक्त रूपिंदर सिंह आईपीएस सहित अन्य वरिष्ठ अधिकारी भी उपस्थित रहे। कार्यक्रम में 385 समितियों के समर्पित सदस्य शामिल हुए, जिनमें ग्राम रक्षा समितियां (VDC) और वार्ड रक्षा समितियां (WDC) प्रमुख रूप से शामिल थीं।
बैठक के दौरान “ऑपरेशन प्रहार 2.0”, “वार ऑन ड्रग्स” और “अटैक ऑन गैंगस्टर्स” जैसे अभियानों की सफलता पर विस्तार से चर्चा की गई। ऑपरेशन प्रहार 2.0 के तहत 232 आरोपियों को गिरफ्तार किया गया तथा भारी मात्रा में हथियार और नशीले पदार्थ बरामद किए गए। “वार ऑन ड्रग्स” अभियान के माध्यम से नशे की सप्लाई चेन को तोड़ने पर विशेष ध्यान दिया जा रहा है। वहीं “अटैक ऑन गैंगस्टर्स” पहल के तहत संगठित अपराध मॉड्यूल्स पर सख्त कार्रवाई की गई, जिससे शहर में अपराध और हिंसा की घटनाओं में कमी आई है।
पुलिस कमिश्नर ने कहा कि VDC और WDC पुलिस की “आंख और कान” हैं। बैठक में कानून-व्यवस्था, मोहल्ला निगरानी कार्यक्रमों की सक्रिय रणनीति, ट्रैफिक समस्याओं के समाधान और सामुदायिक सुझावों पर भी विस्तार से विचार-विमर्श किया गया।
यह बैठक केवल जानकारी देने तक सीमित नहीं रही, बल्कि एक संवादात्मक मंच के रूप में कार्य किया। वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों ने समिति सदस्यों के सुझावों को गंभीरता से सुना। अंत में पुलिस कमिश्नर ने सभी स्वयंसेवकों के अटूट सहयोग की सराहना करते हुए कहा कि “पुलिस उतनी ही प्रभावी हो सकती है जितना उसका समुदाय सहयोग करता है।”
बैठक आपसी सहयोग और साझेदारी के नए संकल्प के साथ संपन्न हुई।

Historic Public Meeting by Ludhiana Police Strengthens Brotherhood and Security Network
In a grand initiative of community policing, Ludhiana Police Commissionerate organized a historic public meeting at Police Lines, Ludhiana, aiming to strengthen coordination between law enforcement agencies and local residents. More than 1,500 representatives from the city’s grassroots security network participated in the high-level meeting in a positive and cooperative atmosphere.
The meeting was presided over by Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma, IPS, along with Additional Police Commissioner Rupinder Singh, IPS, and other senior officers. The gathering included dedicated members from 385 committees, prominently comprising Village Defence Committees (VDC) and Ward Defence Committees (WDC).
During the meeting, major campaigns such as “Operation Prahar 2.0,” “War on Drugs,” and “Attack on Gangsters” were discussed in detail. Under Operation Prahar 2.0, 232 accused individuals were arrested and a significant quantity of illegal weapons and narcotics was seized. The “War on Drugs” campaign focuses on dismantling the drug supply chain, while the “Attack on Gangsters” initiative targets organized crime networks, significantly reducing incidents of violence and criminal intimidation in the city.
The Police Commissioner emphasized that VDC and WDC members act as the “eyes and ears” of the police force. Key discussions also included maintaining peace and law order, strengthening neighborhood watch programs, resolving traffic issues, and gathering community feedback.
The session served as an interactive platform rather than just a briefing. Senior officers carefully noted suggestions from committee members regarding local beat patrolling and ward-specific security concerns.
Commissioner Swapan Sharma appreciated the volunteers for their unwavering spirit and reiterated that “A police force can only be as effective as the community it serves.”
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to cooperation, reinforcing the VDC and WDC structure as the backbone of Ludhiana Police’s security strategy.
