पंजाब विधानसभा की अनुसूचित जातियां, अनुसूचित जनजातियां और पिछड़ी श्रेणियों की भलाई संबंधी समिति ने लुधियाना की केंद्रीय जेल, बोर्स्टल जेल और महिला जेल का व्यापक निरीक्षण किया। समिति की अगुवाई सभापति एवं जगराओं से विधायक सर्वजीत कौर माणूके ने की। इस दौरान विधायकों ने कैदियों और विचाराधीन बंदियों की समस्याएं सुनीं।
कैदियों ने लंबे समय से माफी न मिलने की शिकायत की, जिस पर सभापति ने भरोसा दिलाया कि मामला मुख्यमंत्री भगवंत मान तक पहुंचाया जाएगा। समिति ने जेल की बैरकों, रसोई, सफाई व्यवस्था, अस्पताल और व्यावसायिक प्रशिक्षण इकाइयों का निरीक्षण किया। महिला जेल में बंदियों से स्वास्थ्य, भोजन और कानूनी सहायता को लेकर बातचीत की गई। समिति ने व्यवस्थाओं को और बेहतर बनाने के निर्देश भी दिए।

Assembly Committee Conducts Comprehensive Inspection of Ludhiana’s Central, Borstal and Women Jails, Hears Inmates’ Grievances
The Punjab Vidhan Sabha Committee on the Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes conducted a comprehensive inspection of Ludhiana’s Central Jail, Borstal Jail and Women Jail. The committee was led by Chairperson and Jagraon MLA Sarabjit Kaur Manuke. During the visit, members heard grievances of inmates and undertrial prisoners.
Inmates raised concerns over delays in remission, and the Chairperson assured that the matter would be taken up with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The committee inspected barracks, kitchen facilities, sanitation, hospital services and vocational training units. At the women’s jail, discussions were held regarding health services, food and legal aid. The committee also issued directions to further improve administrative procedures and facilities.
