किसान संगठनों द्वारा आज जंडियाला गुरु के निज्जरपुरा टोल प्लाजा पर रोष प्रदर्शन किया गया। यह प्रदर्शन सुबह 11 बजे से दोपहर 3 बजे तक चला, जिसके दौरान आम लोगों के लिए टोल फ्री रखा गया।
भारत और अमेरिका के बीच हुए फैसले को लेकर किसानों ने विरोध जताया। किसानों ने कहा कि इस बार ओलावृष्टि से फसलें खराब हुई हैं, जिनका मुआवजा पंजाब सरकार द्वारा दिया जाना चाहिए।
किसानों का कहना है कि पंजाब सरकार ने पहले भी वादा किया था कि खराब फसलों का मुआवजा दिया जाएगा, लेकिन अभी तक पिछले सालों की फसलों की ‘गिरदावरी’ (फसल आकलन) भी पूरी नहीं हुई है। उन्होंने मांग की कि जल्द से जल्द गिरदावरी पूरी कर किसानों को मुआवजा दिया जाए।
केंद्र सरकार के खिलाफ बोलते हुए किसानों ने कहा कि मोदी सरकार किसान विरोधी है और किसानों के हकों को छीन रही है। उन्होंने चेतावनी दी कि किसानों को उनके अधिकार दिए जाएं, जैसा पहले वादा किया गया था। किसानों ने स्वामीनाथन आयोग की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार फसलों का उचित मूल्य और एमएसपी की गारंटी देने की भी मांग की।

Farmers protest against central government at toll plazas in Amritsar.
Farmer organizations staged a protest today at the Nijjarpura toll plaza in Jandiala Guru. The protest was held from 11 AM to 3 PM, during which the toll was made free for the public.
The farmers protested against the recent decisions taken between India and the United States. They stated that crops were damaged due to hailstorms this time and demanded compensation from the Punjab government.
Farmers said that the Punjab government had earlier promised compensation for damaged crops, but even the crop assessment (girdawari) for previous years has not yet been completed. They demanded that the assessment be completed at the earliest and compensation be provided.
Speaking against the central government, farmers alleged that the Modi government is anti-farmer and is taking away farmers’ rights. They warned that their rights should be granted as promised earlier. They also demanded fair crop prices as per the Swaminathan Commission report and a legal guarantee of MSP.
