जी. एम. टी. पब्लिक स्कूल, नजदीक जालंधर बाईपास लुधियाना के छात्र-छात्राओं ने पर्यावरण संरक्षण के प्रति अपनी जिम्मेदारी निभाते हुए ‘पृथ्वी दिवस’ (Earth Day) के उपलक्ष्य पर एक विशेष जागरूकता अभियान चलाया। इस अभियान के तहत विद्यार्थियों ने शहर के प्रमुख सार्वजनिक स्थल पर “धरती माँ के रखवाले” नामक नुक्कड़ नाटक का प्रभावशाली मंचन किया। नाटक की सजीव प्रस्तुति ने न केवल राहगीरों का ध्यान अपनी ओर खींचा, बल्कि वहाँ मौजूद सैकड़ों लोगों को पर्यावरण के प्रति गंभीर चिंतन करने के लिए प्रेरित किया ।
नाटक के दौरान विद्यार्थियों ने अपनी कला के माध्यम से बढ़ते प्रदूषण, पेड़ों की अंधाधुंध कटाई और प्लास्टिक के हानिकारक उपयोग से धरती पर पड़ने वाले घातक दुष्प्रभावों को बड़े ही मार्मिक ढंग से प्रदर्शित किया। विद्यार्थियों ने जोशपूर्ण नारों और गीतों के जरिए आम जनता को संदेश दिया कि यदि हम आज भी अपनी आदतों के प्रति जागरूक नहीं हुए, तो आने वाली पीढ़ियों के लिए एक सुरक्षित और स्वस्थ भविष्य की कल्पना करना असंभव होगा।। इस दौरान भारी संख्या में उपस्थित जनसमूह ने न केवल तालियों के साथ छात्रों का उत्साह बढ़ाया, बल्कि भविष्य में पर्यावरण को स्वच्छ और हरा-भरा रखने की शपथ भी ली। कार्यक्रम के समापन पर छात्रों ने स्थानीय नागरिकों से अधिक से अधिक पौधे लगाने और जल संरक्षण का संकल्प लेने का आग्रह किया।
इस अवसर पर स्कूल के प्रधानाचार्या श्रीमती जसबीर कौर बल जी ने विद्यार्थियों के इस सराहनीय प्रयास की प्रशंसा करते हुए कहा कि शिक्षा का असली उद्देश्य केवल किताबी ज्ञान तक सीमित नहीं है, बल्कि समाज को मुद्दों के प्रति जागरूक करना भी है। हमारे स्कूल के छात्र आज ‘धरती माँ के रखवाले’ बनकर समाज को नई दिशा दिखा रहे हैं और एक बेहतर भविष्य की नींव रख रहे हैं।

Students of GMT Public School Spread Environmental Awareness Through Street Play “Guardians of Mother Earth”
Students of GMT Public School, near Jalandhar Bypass, Ludhiana, took a meaningful step toward environmental protection by organizing a special awareness campaign on the occasion of Earth Day. As part of this initiative, the students performed a powerful street play titled “Guardians of Mother Earth” at a prominent public location in the city.
The impactful performance not only captured the attention of passersby but also encouraged hundreds of people present to reflect seriously on environmental issues. Through their expressive acting, the students highlighted the harmful effects of rising pollution, indiscriminate deforestation, and excessive use of plastic on the planet.
Using energetic slogans and songs, the students conveyed a strong message that if people do not become conscious of their habits today, it will be difficult to ensure a safe and healthy future for coming generations. The large gathering applauded the students’ efforts and pledged to contribute toward keeping the environment clean and green.
At the conclusion of the program, the students urged local residents to plant more trees and adopt water conservation practices. On this occasion, Principal Jasbir Kaur Bal appreciated the initiative, stating that the true purpose of education goes beyond academics and includes spreading awareness about social issues. She added that the students are acting as true “Guardians of Mother Earth” and laying the foundation for a better future.
