ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਦੇ ਸਪੀਕਰ ਕੁਲਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ ਕਮੇਟੀ (SGPC) ਨੂੰ 328 ਪਾਵਨ ਸਿਰੋਪਾਂ (ਸਕ੍ਰਿਪਚਰ) ਦੀ ਲਾਪਤਾ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਘਟਨਾ ‘ਤੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਰੰਗ ਨਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ ਅਤੇ SGPC ਨੂੰ ਸੂਚਨਾ ਦੇਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਮੁੱਖ ਸਰੂਪਾਂ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਉਮੀਦ ਹੈ ਕਿ SGPC ਸਹਿਕਾਰੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾ ਕੇ ਸੱਚ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਲਿਆਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀਆਂ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਿਭਾਏ।
ਸਪੀਕਰ ਸੰਧਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ SGPC ਦੀ ਵਿਤਕਰਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਟਿੱਪਣੀਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਟਿੱਪਣੀ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਪੱਖਾਂ ‘ਚ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ‘ਤੇ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਪਾਵਨ ਸਿਰੋਪ ਦੇ ਗਲਮਲ ਹੋਣ ਨਾਲ ਸਿੱਖ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ‘ਚ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਪੱਧਰੀ ਹਲਚਲ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ, ਤਾਂ 328 ਸਿਰੋਪਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੈਰਮੌਜੂਦਗੀ ‘ਤੇ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ SGPC ਕਿਉਂ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਮਸਲਿਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਲਈ ਸੰਵੇਦਨਸ਼ੀਲਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ।
ਸੰਧਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਦੋਹਰਾਇਆ ਕਿ SGPC ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਦਾਨ ‘ਚੋਂ ਇੱਕਦਮ ਸਹੀ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗਲਤ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ‘ਤੇ ਭੀ ਸਵਾਲ ਉਠਾਏ ਕਿ ਸਿਰੋਪਾਂ ਤੇ ਜਿੰਮੇਵਾਰ Task Force ਨੇ ਕਿਸ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ‘ਤੇ ਵਰਤਾਓ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਿੰਨੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਿਰੋਪਾਂ ਦੀ ਖੋਜ ਜਾਂ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਲਈ ਪੁੱਛੇ ਜਾਂ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਪੀਕਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ SGPC ਆਪਣੀ ਮੁਖ਼ਤਿਆ ਰੋਲ ਪੂਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕੀ, ਤਾਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਭਾਵਨਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ‘ਚ ਰਖਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਦਮ ਚੁੱਕਣੇ ਪਏ। ਇਹ ਕਦਮ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਸਿਰੋਪਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ‘ਤੇ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਗੋਂ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਸੰਵੇਦਨਸ਼ੀਲਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਹਰ ਪੱਖ ‘ਤੇ ਵੀ ਚਿੰਤਨਬੱਧ ਹੈ।
ਇਹ ਘਟਨਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਡੀ ਚਰਚਾ ਦਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਾ ਬਣੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕ SGPC ਤੇ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪਾਰਦਰਸ਼ੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਦੀ ਉਮੀਦ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਸਿਰੋਪਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੁੰਮਸ਼ੁਦਾ ਹਾਲਤ ਬਾਰੇ ਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦੇਣ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰਾਂ ਖ਼ਿਲਾਫ਼ ਉਚਿਤ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਬਹੁਤ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਭਰੋਸੇਮੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਹੋ ਸਕੇ।
Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan has called on the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to fully cooperate with the Punjab government in resolving the controversial case of 328 missing saroops (holy scriptures of Guru Granth Sahib). Sandhwan emphasized that the issue should not be politicized and urged SGPC to clarify the whereabouts of the missing saroops while assisting authorities in their investigation. The Speaker’s remarks come amid growing concern in the Sikh community over the disappearance of a large number of sacred copies.
Addressing the controversy, Sandhwan questioned why SGPC was opposing legal action aimed at recovering the missing scriptures, especially when even the mishandling of a single holy saroop had previously sparked outrage among Sikhs. He stated firmly that matters involving religious sentiments should not be turned into political battlegrounds, and everyone must act responsibly to uphold respect for sacred traditions.
The Speaker also accused SGPC of misusing funds collected as offerings and misleading the public about the First Information Report registered by the Punjab government regarding the missing saroops. According to Sandhwan, misrepresentation of facts regarding the investigation could further erode trust within the community, requiring SGPC to adopt a more cooperative and transparent stance.
Sandhwan raised tough questions about the internal actions taken by the SGPC Task Force, including why peaceful congregations (sangats) demanding accountability were met with resistance instead of being supported. He emphasized that if SGPC was unable to carry out its core responsibilities, then the state government had to intervene in order to protect the sentiments of the Sikh community and ensure justice.
The issue of missing saroops has sparked intense debate among Sikh organizations and community leaders who are demanding transparency and urgent action. Many have called for identifying those responsible for the disappearance, as well as ensuring that such sensitive religious matters are handled with utmost care and respect.
The controversy continues to draw public attention across Punjab, where people are closely watching for accountability and answers. Community members have stressed the importance of preserving sacred texts and holding those negligent or complicit accountable, reinforcing the need for cooperative efforts between SGPC and the government to bring clarity and closure to the case.
